This steading at Lanark Mill had received a poor quality coating to the rendered finish. The incorrect bonding procedure had been used, allowing the de-lamination of the outer surface. The entire coating and render was removed, properly bonded to receive a new properly bonded render coat folllowed by a Linotol coating to match the existing building. The existing cope on the building had also encouraged water ingress by virtue of the fact it was constructed with precast slab cuts with no drip, thereby encouraging water to be drawn onto the wallhead. A new colour matched single weathered cope was cast by Macbar with drip which effectively protected the roof edge.
